I check out the Porsche 918, and other supercars, at this week’s South OC Cars and Coffee.

The 918 is a technological tour de force. Its’ a hybrid sports car that pairs a naturally aspirated 4.6-liter V8 engine with two electric motors. The combined output is 887 hp and 944 lb-ft of torque. That’s enough power to blast the car from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds, and on to a top speed of 214 mph. The more remarkable about the Porsche 918 is it’s actually pretty fuel efficiency, when driving in electric only mode.

The Porsche 918 cost over $800,000 when it first went on sale. Since then they have only gone up in value. Expect to pay up to $2 million for a mint condition sample. Porsche made only 918 918, so they’re pretty rare.
